- Equilibrium: The pond is in good shape. Care products, that stabilise the water values, support the self-cleaning mechanism of the pond. The pH value, total hardness and carbonate hardness are alright.
- Elimate algae: Algae are part of the pond ecosystem. Same as other plants they produce oxygen and are part of the food chain. However, if they occur excessively, this is a sign that the balance in the pond is disturbed. There are too many nutrients in the pond. Many algae in the pond lead to a fluctuating pH value and lower the carbonate hardness. This does not look nice and worsens the conditions for other creatures in the water. Treatments against algae reduce the algae population.
- Binding nutrients: The pond ecosystem needs nutrients. But sometimes it is too much. Leftover food, fish droppings, leaves, fertilizers that have been washed in with the rain and the like increase the level of nutrients. These are absorbed by the algae and lead to strong algae growth. By binding nutrients, especially phosphate, the basis of algae is reduced. Algae growth is stopped and the algae starve to death.
